Think of the SPI syllabus as your GPS<\/strong>. Without it, you might wander into topics that aren’t even tested, wasting time and energy. With it, you focus your efforts sharply on what’s essential to succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI)<\/strong> exam content can be divided into 6 major domains<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  3. Instrumentation<\/strong>
    \u2013 Transducers, beam formation, pulsed and continuous wave Doppler, real-time imaging.
    \u2013 Importance: strong questions are frequently asked from this area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Doppler and Hemodynamics<\/strong>
    \u2013 Doppler principles, spectral analysis, aliasing, color flow, and power Doppler.
    \u2013 Importance: essential for both vascular and OB\/GYN sonographers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Image Processing and Display<\/strong>
    \u2013 Gain, dynamic range, harmonics, resolution (axial, lateral), cine loop, etc.
    \u2013 Importance: directly affects diagnostic image interpretation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Quality Assurance and Bioeffects<\/strong>
    \u2013 AIUM guidelines, thermal and mechanical indices, artifacts, safety practices.
    \u2013 Importance: often overlooked, but critical to patient care and exam success.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
